Industry Advisory Committee
The Department of Mechanical & Mechanical Engineering, Curtin University of Technology has established the Industry Advisory Committee (IAC) with the aim of providing a value adding industry advisory service to the department so as to strategically position itself as the 'Department of Choice.'
Our objectives
The founding IAC drafted policies so as to guide in the effective functioning of this group. A strategic plan outlining the broader objectives is in place, its key aspects being as indicated below:
- To assist the Department in developing the "best practice";
- To be a sounding-board for input and feedback in respect to changing industry needs and developments;
- To be a conduit between the customer [Industry] and the supplier [Curtin University of Technology];
- To advise the Department in respect to course structure and relevance of activities;
- To facilitate the engagement of industry personnel into Department activities;
- To provide guidance on mechanical and mechatronic engineering research relevant to local industry;
- To understand and communicate to industry the constraints of academia.
Committee composition
The IAC consists of a mix of industry professionals and academics. The key positions within the committee are as follows:
- Chairman [Industry]
- Secretary [Department of Mechanical Engineering]
- Industry Representatives (8-12 members) with experience in mechanical and/or mechatronic engineering
- Head of Department [Department of Mechanical Engineering]
- Academia Representatives (4-6 members) [Department of Mechanical Engineering]

- Dean of Engineering
