The Department of Mechanical Engineering is active in research that ranges from fundamental through to strongly application-driven studies. Our research interests and expertise serve to inform our postgraduate programs. The excellent external links of the Department means that project work can, if desired, be linked to industry.


DURATION OF PROGRAMS

  • MEngSc by Coursework:
    12 months total (12 months of taught units and project)
  • MEng by Research:
    18-24 months full-time study (extended duration for part-time)
  • PhD:
    3 years full-time study (extended duration for part-time)


ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS

Admission to the Master of Engineering Science by coursework program is available to candidates who have completed a recognised Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. Applications from graduates in other engineering disciplines will also be considered based upon their experience and previous courses of study.

Admission to the MEng by Research and PhD programs is available to candidates holding a good honours degree (or its equivalent) in an Engineering, Applied Science or Applied Mathematics area. Applicants with other qualifications will be considered on the basis of their experience and previous courses of study.
